4 Helpful Tips for Getting Used to Your Carrier...and trusting it!
|
|
Hi everyone, I'd like to share some tips that I found on the internet. These might help you learn to trust your baby carrier before putting your baby in one. I hope you find these tips helpful!... Tip 1: Try carrying a bag of potatoes or a heavy doll in the carrier to get the hang of it. This will also allow you to test the security of your carrier and make adjustments so you are comfortable. You will also want to examine the buckles or rings and ties (wrap) so that you are comfortable with how they fasten. Doing this test run will help you along the trust curve and you will soon feel confident about the security and safety of your carrier. Tip 2: When you put your baby in your carrier for the first time, you might prefer to do so over your bed, or over another soft surface. This will give you added comfort while you make adjustments and secure your infant. Tip 3: Once you have secured your baby in your carrier, hold on! That’s right, feel free to just hold your baby and carrier with your arms (assuming front carry) until you start to gain the trust that your carrier deserves. Tip 4: Stay informed of product recalls, and ensure that your carrier meets the essential safety standards and certifications. For example, the Ergo Baby Carrier is JPMA certified (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association). This is an important certification and you should read about it. You should also visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission Web site at www.cpsc.gov to research product recalls. I hope you find this info helpful. I'll check back soon with some more information. And if you have any questions, post them here and I'll respond quickly. Good luck! Steph |
