Compliance with JPMA

The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JPMA) is a national trade organization representing 95% of the prenatal to preschool industry. Formed in 1962 with 29 industry companies and has grown to include more than 250 member companies in the United States, Canada and Mexico. These companies manufacture, import, and/or distribute infant products such as cribs, car seats, strollers, bedding, lamps, and a wide range of accessories and decorative items.

In 1976 JPMA established a voluntary Certification Program. JPMA works with consumers, manufacturers, representatives from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and ASTM International to develop standards for juvenile products. Today, there are more than 2,000 products certified in 20 categories. Parents can look for the special seal and be confident the juvenile products they purchase are designed and built with safety in mind.

Compliance with CPSIA

On January 30, 2009, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a one-year stay of enforcement for certain testing and certification requirements for manufacturers and importers of regulated products, including products intended for children 12 years old and younger. These requirements are part of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), which added certification and testing requirements for all products subject to CPSC standards or bans.   The stay did not however change the requirement that children's products meet lead content and phthalates limitations.

The Ergo Baby Carrier and related ERGObaby products fully comply with all of the requirements and limitations of the CPSIA, and undergo regular testing to insure that our products meet or exceed all applicable government regulations and industry standards to insure the safety of our customers and the children entrusted to us.

Ergonomic Design

The ERGO Baby Carrier's ergonomic design supports a correct sitting position for the baby's hip, pelvis and spine growth. It disperses most of the baby's weight between the hips and thighs, which helps to eliminate compression of the spine when hanging by the crotch which most other designs require. The ERGO also balances the baby's weight to parents' hips and shoulders, and alleviates physical stress for the parent.

Quality Construction

The ERGO Baby Carrier is constructed from high-quality, durable materials and incorporates reinforced stitching to strengthen seems. Below is a summary of construction components:

  • 14 ounce cotton canvas for maximum durability
  • 400 threads per inch cotton poplin lining and hood
  • 100% cotton batting in body of carrier to soften edges
  • One inch, high density foam in shoulder straps
  • Quarter inch high density neoprene foam in waist belt
  • High Quality buckles tested by SGS
  • Reinforcement stitching used at all fabric intersections
  • Interior rip-stop reinforcements at critical intersections
  • High quality black webbing
  • Durability/strength tested up to 90 pounds
